Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church

In making a space for faith, Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church is changing lives and helping people to grow in God's love. The congregation is committed to openness, transformation, joyful service, and spirituality.

The congregation's stated core beliefs are:

  • Alive in us, the Holy Spirit is at work revealing Jesus, who shows us how to live, and revealing God who we will love above all else.
  • In the essential and central actions of Worship, Education, and Service. We are transformed and called to live out the radical transforming of the world.
  • The reality of our faith and the shape of our purpose originate in the dynamic interplay between our comprehension of the triune God ("Growing in God's love") and our call to action in the world ("Changing Lives")

Openness

The open arms of Jesus show us the posture God calls us to have toward our neighborhood and the world -  a posture of openness, welcome, hospitality and inclusiveness.

At Good Shepherd, we strive to live this calling every day.

Good Shepherd is:

  • Committed to diversity and inclusivity in all we do
  • Welcoming all members of our community with warmth and respect
  • Representing a rich diversity of races, cultures, and socioeconomic backgrounds

We believe the Church should be a reflection of God’s kingdom—
a place where everyone belongs.

Transformation

A community transformed by God's Love

God’s loving act of reconciliation through Jesus the Christ transforms the world and announces that a new age has dawned— an age in which God is still at work in our midst.

As the Body of Christ, the Church is called to carry out this mission of transformation,
living with a renewed openness to the presence and movement of God in all of life.

At Good Shepherd, we embrace this calling by:

  • Making space for faith—welcoming questions, nurturing spiritual growth
  • Living love as our aim—believing life is best lived when guided by compassion
  • Changing our community by seeking justice—engaging where healing is needed
  • Working to shift the system—so that everyone has access to resources and opportunity

Together, we walk in hope, trusting that God’s reconciling love is still changing the world—through us.

Joyful Service

In poetic song, the prophet announces to the exiles a new exodus into an Eden-like land:
“You shall go out in joy and be led back in peace.”  (Isaiah 55:12)

At Good Shepherd, this joyful momentum shapes the way we serve—
with open hands, open hearts, and a deep commitment to our neighbors.

We serve God by serving God’s people, and we do so with joy.

Good Shepherd is:

  • Meeting needs in the community with compassion and intention
  • Providing quality child care for local families
  • Delivering a superior Early Learning Center through Preschool and Pre-K programs
  • Offering a safe and nurturing space for Before & After School care
  • Supplying a summer camp that’s both fun and educational
  • Doing mission through hands-on service and giving, near and far

Every act of service is an act of joy—
a step in God’s movement of peace and restoration in the world.

Spirituality

When Moses removed his shoes before the burning bush, it was a spiritual act—
a moment of reverence on holy ground.

At Good Shepherd, we believe that spirituality is lived on holy ground every day—
through prayer, learning, worship, discernment, and intentional living.

Good Shepherd is:

  • Sharing a dynamic worship experience that inspires and connects
  • Praying daily through communal worship, prayer chains, and the presence of our pastoral team
  • Studying the Word together through Bible study groups, learning opportunities, and special services

In all of this, we are seeking God’s presence standing barefoot on the sacred ground of everyday life.
